Refractive surgery procedures become more popular everyday. Millions of people have left their glasses or contacts behind after getting a surgical solution to their vision needs. Binocular diplopia has started to be reported following one of the many procedures. Reported causes for the diplopia are: loss of suppression, the worsening of a previously treated case of strabismus, not recognizing that prisms are present in glasses, decompensation of a marginal fuser and planned monovision in a poorly fusing patient. Refractive surgeons are encouraged to make sensory and muscle evaluations part of their pre-operative regimen for all candidates for refractive surgery.
Key words: LASIK, PRK, RK, strabismus, diplopia
